I have special programs for beginners of all ages and for "returning" adults. I combine the best of old and new techniques and technology to make learning easier, more fun and more effective. I teach classical piano but encourage reading lead sheets, playing by ear and improvising. I also introduce students to blues, pop and jazz styles. I encourage using the latest muscial software but also the use of one of the oldest methods of mind/body development—yoga.

Some piano teachers don't let children play by ear, I suppose for fear that they won't learn to read music if they can play by ear. I feel strongly that children should be developing their ears from the very beginning, as well as, learning to read notes. Music is auditory. An auditory understanding of sound, not just a visual and intellectual understanding of printed music, is necessary to a true musical education.
